PTSD Therapy: Moving Beyond Survival

You can work toward steadier days when trauma still feels close. I move at a pace that fits you.

About this service

PTSD Therapy

Individual, trauma-informed therapy for adults experiencing PTSD after single, repeated, or complex trauma.

I provide individual therapy for adults experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following a single traumatic event, repeated trauma, prolonged or complex trauma, abuse, violence, traumatic loss, occupational trauma, medical trauma, or other experiences that overwhelmed their ability to cope.

PTSD can develop when the mind and body continue responding to a traumatic experience long after the immediate danger has passed. Someone may logically know they are safe while their brain and body continue reacting as though the threat is still present.

What it is

Individual therapy for adults experiencing PTSD after a single traumatic event, repeated trauma, prolonged or complex trauma, or other experiences that overwhelmed their ability to cope.

Who it serves

Adults experiencing PTSD symptoms such as intrusive memories, nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, guilt, shame, or feeling constantly on guard.

How it starts

I begin by understanding what you are experiencing, what you need to feel safer and more stable, and what you want your life to look like when PTSD is no longer controlling it.

If your concerns are connected to past experiences, trauma therapy for adults in Missouri can provide a broader starting point.

Common experiences

What You May Be Experiencing

  • “I know I’m safe, but my body doesn’t seem to know it.”

  • “I can’t stop replaying what happened.”

  • “I feel like I’m right back there when something triggers me.”

  • “I avoid anything that reminds me of what happened.”

PTSD treatment

Safety and stability come first

My approach to PTSD treatment is individualized and trauma-informed. I first work to understand what the client is experiencing, how PTSD is affecting their life, what they need to feel safer and more stable, and what they want their life to look like when PTSD is no longer controlling it.

Treatment may include learning to recognize and regulate trauma responses, reducing hypervigilance and anxiety, improving sleep, identifying triggers, decreasing avoidance, addressing guilt, shame or self-blame, challenging beliefs that developed following trauma, rebuilding trust and connection, and processing traumatic experiences when the client is ready.

Moving beyond survival

A life beyond simply surviving

Ultimately, I want clients to move beyond simply surviving—to feel safe enough to breathe, connect, rest, experience joy, and participate fully in their lives again.

The goal is not to erase the memory or pretend the trauma never happened. It is to help the memory become something that happened in the past instead of something the mind and body continue experiencing in the present.
